Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get started?
Getting started is simple. Reach out through our contact form or schedule a call—we’ll walk you through the next steps and answer any questions along the way.
Will the studio host recitals?
Second City Strings presents recitals at the conclusion of both the fall and spring semesters.
Upon completion of a book level, students participate in a Book Level Graduation, performing the complete repertoire from that book to commemorate their accomplishment.
What experience will we have with the studio?
You will have personalized Suzuki-based lessons that blend technique, listening, and expression at each student’s pace, backed by practice goals and feedback. Students perform in recitals, community events, and ensembles to build confidence and stage presence. We will also host group classes for students to learn to play together and build community. All group classes, performances, and individual lessons are included in the tuition fee.
Will we be able to participate in events with the studio?
Yes! Second City Strings performs in various events in the community including the Arlington Heights Farmers Market, National Anthem at professional sporting events, and more!
How do make up lessons work?
Fall and spring semesters have designated weeks for make-up lessons.
Summer lessons can be made up only if slots are available, cancellations are made within 48 hours of the lesson, and at the discretion of the instructor.
What ages do you teach?
The Suzuki Method can begin as early as age 3 or 4, though the ideal starting age depends on each child’s readiness and the instrument.
We also offer introductory lessons, and adult lessons.
What payment methods can I use?
Payment can be sent via Venmo, Zelle, or cash.
How are summer lessons different than fall or spring?
Summer lesson scheduling begins in May. Summer lessons are scheduled based on Ms. G’s institute traveling. A sign-up genius will be sent out with available dates and times.
Summer lessons are charged on a per hour basis, while semesters are charged by the term.
What is the studio refund policy?
Tuition and administrative fees are non-refundable.
Registration for the semester indicates your commitment for the entirety of the semester. Thus, if you decide to withdraw from the Suzuki Program for any reason, your payment will not be refunded.
